It was another beautiful day and another beautiful wedding, but don’t take that wrong, it was unique in every way! I know in the world of Pinterest, it’s easy to get caught up in the competition of the best details and that Pinterest worthy photograph, but this bride and groom concentrated on the experience. There were still those great details and we still captured all the special moments, but what stood out to me was the concentration on others. They wanted everyone to have fun and experience something different and unique to THEIR wedding.

Tara and Waylon decided to have their wedding in Port Gamble. I’ve never been there before, so it was a fun adventure. Usually Joe shoots with me, but for this wedding, I had my friend, Misty Winesberry by my side.

Tara and Waylon rented out two little guest houses across from each other – to stay in the previous night with their wedding party.  There was still evidence of a good time from the night before when we arrived :).

The first look was just outside Tara’s guest house. They were so excited and overwhelmed!

We captured a few more images at the houses before heading to the pavilion.

If you’ve never been to Port Gamble it’s a cute little destination with cute little shops and streets lined with white picket fences. Most things are within walking distance, so the guest houses are right down the street from the pavilion and that is close to the church. We headed to the pavilion for a few more pictures before the start of the ceremony.

It’s a good idea to take a few minutes to just be with the couple without any distractions.  It’s such a busy day and to have this time is so important to remember to breathe and take it all in.

Remember when I told you it was about the experience, well we were lead by a sax player and tamborine player announcing us as we walked down a side path from the church to the pavilion. How cool is that!

Notice the tulip detail on the side of the cake?  Tara’s new last name is Tulip.  Cute detail to add I thought!

Such a fun day! Congrats Tara and Waylon! You are obviously surrounded by people who love and care about you and you equally love and care about them! Such a great time was had by all!

Just a note: One thing that helps make a wedding run smoothly is an awesome wedding planner. I’ve had the privilege of working with some great ones. Check out Lori Losee from Elegant Affairs. She did an awesome job on this wedding!

Tara and Waylon will be getting married tomorrow in Port Gamble, WA. I’ve never been to Port Gamble and LOVE when I get to go to new places!
Seattle Engagement Tara Waylon Tulip_0001.jpg

We met up with Tara and Waylon at their home in Federal Way for their engagement session. That way we could capture a little bit of their lives in a more personal way, in a place they spend much of their time.

It’s fun when we get to be part of our old school friend’s lives again. We graduate and all part ways and it might be years until we hear or see one another, but my profession has allowed me to be part of so many events that hook me back up with old friends. Nicki, the bride, is the daughter of Dan and Andrea Bohnett (I also photographed another of their daughter’s senior pictures). We went to school with both of them and Dan’s brother, Dave. Then I find out that the groom’s father, is an old school friend of Joe’s (my husband) sisters. Small world. Then, when I come to the hotel room to see Nicki put her dress on, I see another old school friend, Julie Long. Her daughter is a bride’s made. Yes, small world indeed. I am honored to be part of it all.

I know this image looks like it’s black and white, but it’s not. Since they were getting married at The Seaport I wanted to embrace the nautical style of the venue and use rope as a background for their beautiful rings.
Langlow Wedding Tacoma Seaport Nicki and Alex_0001.jpg

Nicki’s dress was one of the most gorgeous dresses I have seen. Her mom did an awesome job of lacing up the back. More time consuming than it looks! Believe me, it takes a good 30 minutes to do that job.
Langlow Wedding Tacoma Seaport Nicki and Alex_0002.jpg

Nicki was calm headed and her room was peaceful with everyone helping her to prepare for the first look with Alex at The Silver Cloud Inn.

We headed down to the Glass Museum area to capture some images of just the two of them and then their wedding party. It was windy, but we were just so happy it was a beautiful day instead of the rain that was predicted.

As soon as we got to Snohomish and saw the open farm land, sky divers in the sky and the beautiful venue, Dairyland we knew this was going to be a great day.

Sabrina and Joe are a fun and down to earth couple and the love they share with their friends and family is very evident!
Joe and Sabrina Wedding Dairyland Snohomosh_0001.jpg

It was hard for them to keep their bridesmaid’s and groomsman count to 8 each. That says a lot about the people they care about.
Joe and Sabrina Wedding Dairyland Snohomosh_0002.jpg

As people entered into the bride’s suite Sabrina would tear up, saying again and again, “I can’t see you, you’ll make me cry.”  They are all just so important to her and her to them.

Joe and Sabrina wrote their own vows. I love that!  It always makes a ceremony so personal.

Joe and Sabrina Wedding Dairyland Snohomosh_0006.jpg

Just next to the girl’s room, the guys were getting ready and opening their gifts.

Joe and Sabrina Wedding Dairyland Snohomosh_0007.jpg

This group was always laughing!

The time had come for Sabrina and Joe to have their first look. This is one of my favorite times of he day (I’m sure I tell you that every time!).

We saw this beautiful field of flowers just behind the venue, so we had to go check it out. Along the pathway, we were met with 2 roosters, they actually looked like fighting cocks. Now, you would think that with a camera in hand and a story to tell, that I would’ve captured a picture for you. Well, you would think! But since they kind of freaked me out, my thought was more about how to get past them. Sabrina was brave and she went first, then we all did. It was a fun little adventure for us all! 🙂
Joe and Sabrina Wedding Dairyland Snohomosh_0021.jpg

This is a new venue and as you can see, there is a lot to use!

I love the current trend of different dresses and shoes, but within the same color scheme.

Time to start the ceremony. Their daughters were adorable coming down the aisle together.

Joe and Sabrina Wedding Dairyland Snohomosh_0034.jpg

Sabrina had her dad, step dad and mom all walk her down the aisle. I’ve never seen that before and it was a special time when they all met in the middle for a hug.

Another unique part to the ceremony was the knot tying ceremony (along with the wiping of sweat off Joe’s forehead, haha)

After reading vows to each to other…
Joe and Sabrina Wedding Dairyland Snohomosh_0038.jpg

Joe had vows for his step daughter too and surprised her with a special bracelet. Very sweet.

It’s hard to pick just a few images to show you from an event filled day, but I hope you liked the ones I decided on and you got a small peak inside a wonderful day!

The garter journey is always good for a laugh!

Joe and Sabrina Wedding Dairyland Snohomosh_0047.jpg

Even though it was hot, there was still dancing! You gotta dance at a wedding, right!

There was even s’mores for those that could face the heat!

And as we were leaving, 2 hot air balloons in the sky. How awesome is that!

Eric is a 2014 Emerald Ridge Graduate and we did his senior session at Pt. Defiance. I’ve found a new love recently for Pt. Defiance. I mean, it’s a great park, but I have never been crazy about the location for a photo shoot for some reason. When that happens to me and clients ask for it, I am forced to chance my perspecitve and explore new areas that re-inspire me. It’s a good thing! It forces growth and only good can come from that!Guy Senior Tacoma Photographer Emerald Ridge 2014_0001.jpg Eric is a great guy, very accomodating and loved to explore ideas!
