Day 6 of LOVE week!
Emma and Lyle made the LONG treck to Tacoma for their engagement session and they will do the same for their wedding in June. They are both teachers on a tiny island in Alaska called Kivalina. Emma’s been there for 5 years now and Lyle 3… yep, that’s where they met :). We were so fortunate to have a beautiful winter day. A little different than the snow and ice they came from.
Emma just wrote me the other day saying that she has her pictures on her desk and her students are alway admiring them. They love them almost as much as she does! How sweet is that! They must love her a lot!
I always love getting the sun shot!
A little explanation is needed for this next outfit! The atikluk is a tradition Eskimo shirt almost with a hood and big pocket in the front. Traditionally women used them to go berry picking because of the pocket. Mostly they are used as dress clothes now and when people get married they wear decorated white ones. A close friend made them just for their engagement shoot!
Just when we were ready to wrap up the session Lyle was finally getting into the shoot, haha :).
And we were able to get some great smiles from him! Priceless!
Stay warm in Alaska you two and I’ll see you soon :)!
